Hawaiian Coffee Beans

With an annual production of 7 million pounds, Hawaii is the only U.S. state where coffee is grown. While the Big Island's Kona coffee remains the best known, coffee is currently grown on each of the major islands. The combination of year round warm, sunny weather, rich volcanic soil, rolling hillsides, tranquil trade winds and ample rain that makes Hawaiian coffee some of the best in the world.

Kona coffee is the market name for a variety of coffee (Coffea arabica) cultivated on the slopes of Mount Hulalalai and Mauna Loa in the North and South Kona Districts of the Big Island of Hawaii. This coffee has developed a reputation that has made it one of the most expensive and sought-after coffees in the world. Only coffee from the Kona Districts can be legally described as "Kona". The Kona weather pattern of bright sunny mornings, humid rainy afternoons and mild nights create favorable coffee growing conditions.

Coffee is now grown in large quantities on Kauai, Molokai, and Maui by large corporations. However they do not stand anywhere in comparison to Kona coffee which remains a rarity due to its special growing conditions.

All coffee lovers know that coffee from Hawaii is well respected for its high quality as much as for its high price. Although many think of Hawaiian Kona Coffee, Royal Kona Coffee, or Hawaiian Gold Kona Coffee as being the best or even the only coffee Hawaii has to offer, many do not realize that the islands of Hawaii have a lot more to offer than just Kona Coffee or Kona Blends. Each of the different Hawaiian coffee beans has different flavors that are as varied as the islands themselves. And so you have Maui coffee, Kauai coffee, Molokai coffee, and Oahu coffee.
